National Shrine of Our Lady of Lourdes in Emmitburg, MD

This shrine looks down over Mount St Mary's University and Seminary from the mountain behind the school.  St Elizabeth Ann Seton and her nuns lived here for a time beginning in 1809.

This golden statue of Our Lady can be seen on the mountain from miles away as you are approaching Emmitsburg.  It is lit up at night and is a beacon in the darkness.

Today is the feast of the Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary.  The stained glass windows in this chapel are exquisite.  Here are two that depict two of Our Lady's sorrows.

This lovely chapel is on the campus of Mount St. Mary's University and Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD.  It has not one, but five beautiful altars!!   There is the main high altar and four side altars.
